I remember it very well, met fernando in Flavs office before signing and was at his first test in Valencia2001: #OnThisDay 5th February, Flavio Briatore announced Fernando Alonso's Formula 1 debut with Minardi. After testing Alonso in a Benetton to qualify for an F1 super-license, Briatore convinced Paul Stoddart to recruit him for the small Italian team.
